Dormy House Hotel

Muddy Boots is a printed bi-annual magazine for the Dormy House; a Cotswold-based, privately-owned, luxury spa hotel. Taking an immersive approach to communicating the latest hotel news and upcoming events, I worked closely with the Dormy marketing team on the art direction, design, copywriting and photography. The result; a content-rich communication which draws on the roots of hotel’s Danish owners, in both style and approach.

The magazine not only informs the recipients of the magazine across the UK of the hotel happenings, but it strongly communicates the hotel’s practice of the Danish concept, ‘hygge’. Things to do, places to go, interviews and Cotswold brands are all featured to fully immerse yourself in the Dormy ‘way of life’.

A snippet from the Visit Denmark website explains the meaning of ‘hygge':

Creating a warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life with good people. The warm glow of candlelight is hygge. Friends and family – that’s hygge too. There’s nothing more hygge than sitting round a table, discussing the big and small things in life.

As well as mailed out of the hotel’s customer mailing list, it is also shared with guests in their rooms, and available to pick up throughout the hotel.
